Clinical Workshop: Skills for Successful Clinical Instruction

This workshop is for new and experienced clinical instructors and preceptors. The workshop will cover how to assess students’ clinical reasoning, identifying if there is a problem and what is the cause (knowledge versus lack of confidence versus professionalism), giving feedback, and strategies to student learning throughout a clinical day. In addition, there will be a presentation on a study looking at student retention of skills learned in lab.

Topics include: 

  • Skill Retention and Deliberate Practice with First- Year nursing Students

·        Debriefing to Build Knowledge and Clinical Judgement

·        My Student is Not Doing Well! Diagnosing the Problem

·        Enhancing Clinical Judgement Throughout the Clinical Day
